Seniors Support

  • Reduced the age for qualification for GIS, OAS, and CPP back down to 65.

  • Increased GIS by 10% for low-income single seniors, lifting more than 900,000 seniors, mostly women, out of poverty.

  • Provided more money for home care and mental health care to help seniors stay independent for longer and receive care in their homes whenever possible.

  • We’ve taken steps to protect Canadians, particularly seniors, from excessive drug prices. We’re modernizing outdated rules around patented drug prices for the first time in over 20 years.

  • We’ve created the new Canada Caregiver Credit, which makes it easier for Canadians to take time off work to care for a sick or elderly relative.
